& Previous Studies
While the Collin County Northeast Freeway is an independent project, it is also part of a larger system of proposed freeways that will link together to form corridor connectivity across many counties.
The Collin County Northeast Freeway study process began with mapping known existing and future constraints throughout the study area and evaluating previous studies:
Data Collection & Analysis
The CCNEF study is collecting data on current road conditions and identifying key challenges to better plan for future mobility and connectivity across the corridor. This analysis will help highlight opportunities for improvement and guide long-term transportation solutions.
Check back soon to explore detailed Data Analysis for the challenges identified below.
Population & Traffic Growth
The Population of Collin Coutny is growing at a rapid rate. A 102% growth in population is expected from 2020 to 2050.
Between 2020 and mid-2025, 411 crashes were recorded.
Traffic Analysis determined that added roadway capacity and future targeted safety improvements are needed at intersections, high-speed segments, and departure-prone corridors to reduce severe crashes.
Travel Demand
The study of travel patterns in the study area used mobility data to estimate daily trips, origins, destinations, and travel times.
The proposed CCNEF would enhance north–south connectivity, reduce congestion, shift freight off local streets, and support future regional growth.
Developments & Constraints
To meet current design standards, reduce displacements and environmental impacts, and prepare for future growth, the study collected and analyzed key development and environmental data.
Analysis included information on existing and planned land use, major utility corridors, public parks, recreation areas, conservation zones, environmentally sensitive areas, and natural features.
